The ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ Review Hosted Comedian Hasan Minhaj at Its NYC Headquarters for a Practice SAT

- Video on Minhaj's Practice SAT Experience Is On Social Media Channels of His Netflix Show, Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj

NEW YORK, Februrary 8, 2019 / — The ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ Review®, which over its 38-year history has helped tens of millions of high school students score their best on the SAT®, recently helped a 33-year-old college grad — comedian  — learn whether he could improve his performance on the test 16 years after taking it.

Minhaj, host of the popular Netflix series , took a full-length practice SAT in January at The ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ Review’s midtown Manhattan headquarters.

Scenes from his three-plus hours of actual (and clearly anxious!) test-taking were captured and condensed into a five-minute video that posted February 7th on his Netflix show’s social media channels. The hilarious video — which reveals whether Minhaj improved on his initial SAT score of 1310 — is viewable on , , and and also on The ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ Review’s website and social media channels.

Minhaj was challenged by fans of his show to retake the SAT after the first episode of Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj aired in October. Titled “Affirmative Action,” it features his perspective on a lawsuit alleging that Harvard discriminates against Asian American applicants in its undergrad admission decisions.

The video of Minhaj’s visit to The ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ Review includes scenes with his father, who accompanied him to the practice test, and with The ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ Review’s Editor-in-Chief Robert Franek, who proctored the exam and later revealed Minhaj’s score to him and his father. Franek is The ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ Review’s chief college expert, a former SAT instructor/tutor, and author of six books including College Admission 101 (Penguin Random House, May 2018).

Said Franek, “Many of us at The ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ Review are big fans of Hasan Minhaj, so of course we were delighted that he wanted to come to our offices to take a practice SAT— a free service we provide to students nationwide. Hasan was great fun to work with, and as the video shows, a good sport to test his SAT-taking skills and to publicly share his score in the video. We know what a daunting experience the SAT can be — especially for anyone taking it ‘cold.’ We hope Hasan taking a practice SAT will encourage students to take a practice SAT as well.”

begins its second season on Netflix Sunday February 10.
