Corban is “one tight knit community of believers.†A requisite for attending Corban is a “profession of your faith in Christ in written form,†so students “tend to have a strong Christian background regardless of their denomination.†Students range from “those who were home-schooled their entire lives, and flock to the others who were raised similarly, to kids who dearly miss their beloved high school dances, and know how to bend the rules.†Despite the conservative bent of most Corban students, they are “pretty accepting.†One student writes, “I'm not always the ‘cookie-cutter Christian’ and people don't expect that.†“Spiritual integrity†is the “one common chord†that runs through the student body, with students reporting that “a typical Corban student would feel totally comfortable leaving an iPod and laptop unwatched in the library for hours knowing that he or she can trust the other students to respect their property.†Overall, students feel that the school is “one big family†where “everyone has a place.â€

Life at Corban doesn’t represent the typical college experience, as students “don’t party and stuff as much. While that does go on to some extent at our school, you are definitely a minority if you participate in unhealthy lifestyle habits.†That being said, Corban students are an active bunch, taking advantage of all that the nearby towns of Salem, Portland and Eugene have to offer, including “the beach, lakes (boating), rivers (fishing/tubing), mountains (skiing/snowboarding).†Students also make their own fun on campus, and “love to watch movies, go bowling, shooting, hunting, fishing, dancing, rock climbing.†The one major complaint students had was that there is no place to hang out on campus after midnight. Says one student, “I realize that most people assume we should be asleep, but we are adults and in college and have a right to choose to either stay up or go to sleep. If a guy wants to hang out with a girl after midnight then he must go off campus…it would be nice to have a place where guys and girls can hang out after midnight on campus and not be alone, but with others.â€
Campus Life
Students describe Corban as “a place to prepare you for a strong life with a good education and an even greater relationship with the Lord.†Most of the professors “teach Christ no matter the discipline, providing an enjoyable and intuitive walk through my major in light of the scriptures.†Students had rave reviews for the faculty, saying that “I am daily overwhelmed with the wealth of knowledge found in my professors†and that they provide “examples for us to follow in our everyday lives.†“Easily accessible outside of the classroom,†instructors “encourage you to talk to them if you ever have any questions or concerns.†Although students say that the courses are “well planned†with “well-designed curriculum,†“classes are often scheduled at the same times which creates schedule conflicts, especially for seniors.†Most importantly, students say that Corban “care(s) about me as an individual. That is why I'm here.â€
